FINCH & POPPY CO. LLC ("us", "we", or "our") operates the FLO mobile application (the "Service"). This page informs you of our policies regarding the collection, use, and disclosure of personal data when you use our Service and the choices you have associated with that data.
Information Collection and Use
We collect several different types of information for various purposes to provide and improve our Service to you. FLO is designed to keep your data local on your device. We do not collect or transmit your financial data to our servers unless explicitly shared by you (e.g., via exports).
Types of Data Collected
- Personal Data: While using our Service, we may ask you to provide us with certain personally identifiable information that can be used to contact or identify you ("Personal Data"). This may include:
- Email addresses for invoicing or contact purposes (optional)
- Client information you enter for invoice generation
- Business name and tax information you provide in settings
- Financial Data: The app stores transaction details, budgets, invoices, receipts, mileage logs, and tax estimates locally on your device only. This includes:
- Amounts, dates, merchants, categories, and notes
- Budget allocations and spending limits
- Invoice details and payment tracking
- Tax estimate calculations and quarterly reminders
- Receipt images and extracted data

- Camera/Photos Data: For receipt scanning features, we access your camera or photo library (with your permission) to:
- Capture receipt images
- Extract transaction data via on-device OCR (Optical Character Recognition)
- Notification Data: If you enable notifications, we use Apple's local notification system to send:
- Quarterly tax deadline reminders

Use of Data
FLO uses the collected data for:
- Providing core financial tracking features (transactions, budgets, reports, tax estimates)
- Automating tasks like recurring transactions and notifications
- Calculating tax estimates based on IRS guidelines
- Generating invoices and tracking payments
- Recording business mileage for tax deductions
- Improving app performance, security, and user experience
We do not share your data with third parties except as required by law or with your explicit consent (e.g., when you export reports or share invoices).
Data Storage and Sync
Local Storage
All your data is stored locally on your device using Apple's SwiftData framework. This means:
- Your financial information never leaves your device unless you explicitly export it
- We cannot access your data - we don't have the keys or infrastructure to do so
- Data is isolated within the app's secure container
- If you delete the app, all data is permanently removed from your device
iCloud Sync (Optional - Future Feature)
If you enable iCloud sync in a future version, your data will be stored in your personal iCloud account. This means:
- Data is synced across your devices signed in with the same Apple ID
- Data is encrypted by Apple in transit and at rest
- We still cannot access your data - it's stored in YOUR iCloud, not ours
- You can disable iCloud sync at any time in Settings
Bank Account Linking (Future Feature)
Note: This feature is planned for version 2.0 and is not currently available.
When you choose to link bank accounts in a future version, we will use Plaid Inc.'s secure platform to access your transaction data with your explicit permission. This will involve:
- Data Retrieved: Account balances, transaction history (typically last 90 days), account holder information
- Security: Your bank credentials are NEVER stored by FLO - they remain securely with Plaid using bank-level encryption
- Control: You can disconnect linked accounts at any time in Settings
- Third Party: Review Plaid's privacy policy at plaid.com/legal
We will update this privacy policy before launching bank linking features.
Security
We value your trust in providing us your Personal Data, thus we are striving to use commercially acceptable means of protecting it:
- Local Storage: Data is stored securely on your device using Apple's SwiftData framework with iOS sandboxing
- Encryption: Optional biometric (Face ID/Touch ID) or passcode protection adds an additional layer of security
- No Cloud Storage: By default, we don't transmit your financial data to any servers
- App Lock: Require Face ID, Touch ID, or passcode to access the app
- Secure Exports: When you export data, files are encrypted and shared only via iOS secure sharing methods
However, remember that no method of transmission over the internet, or method of electronic storage is 100% secure. While we strive to use commercially acceptable means to protect your Personal Data, we cannot guarantee its absolute security.
Your Rights and Choices
You have control over your data:
- Access: View all your data within the app at any time
- Export: Export your data as CSV or PDF from Settings > Export Data
- Delete: Delete individual transactions or all data from Settings > Data Management
- Permissions: Manage location, camera, and notification permissions in iOS Settings > FLO
- App Deletion: Deleting the app permanently removes all data from your device
